My individualized, integrative approach gives me the flexibility to work effectively with a variety of life stages. With all my clients, the beginning phase of therapy focuses on building rapport and a deep understanding of the client’s experiences and needs.
While therapy is always highly individual, work with teens often has a special emphasis on communication skill building, self-esteem, and managing emotions. Because these are essential developmental tasks in adolescence, focusing on them creates a foundation for teens to successfully complete treatment and manage their mental well-being independently.

Relational trauma is rarely a single, easy to identify incident. Its long-term nature often leads to pervasive trauma symptoms that begin to feel like a permanent part of who you are. Trauma is not your personality; it’s your brain’s way of looking for safety in a world that feels untrustworthy, no matter of the cost to your current mental health.
Common symptoms of relational trauma include people pleasing, fear of abandonment, difficulty setting boundaries or trusting others, and a vicious inner critic. Insight oriented therapy and relational work are effective treatments.

Time spent in treatment varies greatly on client need and symptoms. After getting to know each other, our first priority will be implementing strategies to manage your emotions in day to day life. After you feel more like yourself, we will move to deeper work so that your progress will be long lasting. This longer term work is where the truly transformative change happens.

I might be the right therapist for you if:
-You are looking for an approach that gives deep, long lasting change, not a quick fix
-You want a therapist who prioritizes authenticity and feels like a real person in the room
-You’re motivated to make big changes and can’t figure out you always get stuck
-You want a personalized approach. Because I’m a small practice, your consult call will be directly with the therapist you will be doing the work with (me). We will talk together about what you want to get out of therapy and whether I’m a good fit for your needs. From our first contact to your final session, we will check in about how therapy is helping you meet your goals. If you end up needing something outside of what I can provide I will do my best to connect you with the right clinician or resource.
-
The first session is about getting to know each other. An intake involves basic questions about your family, life, symptoms, and the challenges that bring you to therapy. You are in charge of sharing your story and we will explore how to talk about past trauma without it feeling overwhelming. We may also explore any worries about starting therapy, a strategy or two to help with immediate symptom relief, and your overall goals for treatment.

The first step is to reach out through the contact form so that we can schedule a consult call. I’ll walk you through next steps and talk through how I can be helpful to you.
